Why Are You Showing Grace To Them? They Hurt ME!

Read Luke 19:1-10 Everyone always seemed to have a problem with Jesus spending time with sinners.  I used to believe it was because they mused that if Jesus was Who He said He was then sinners were too far beneath Him. Maybe they perceived that those sinners weren’t worth His time. I suppose that it was even that he shouldn’t associate with that “type”. That is until  I read the story of Zacchaeus AFTER just speaking some pretty harsh words to God. From my perspective, He was fighting more for the person who had hurt me than for me. I was the one begging God for help but it seemed…

    They Ruined My Life!

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” Phil. 1:6 kjv What did I do to deserve this??? Have you ever asked yourself that question after being mistreated? Have you ever questioned God’s goodness when your closest companions hurt you? Have you ever wondered if you will still be able to fulfill your calling when your life, as the result of others, looks drastically different than “it’s supposed to look?” After all, you were the one going to church every Sunday. You were the one being faithful. You were the one praying and…

    BURY THE DEAD

13 And he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there Genesis 23:13 I was having a hard day again. It seems to happen at the most inopportune times, amidst the chaos of appointments and holidays, and always before Mother’s Day. The past comes creeping in like a predator in the night. Without warning it’s standing right before me and I appease it with a plate full of resentment and a side dish of anger. I…

Why Did God Choose The Rainbow?

12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: 13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. 14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: Genesis 9:12-14 I don’t know about you but Fear seems to be the battle I face the most as a mom. I feel like most days I’m white water rafting down the river…

    When Our Dirty Laundry Airs!

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 To this day I can’t help but break out in laughter at the thought of what happened one day while teaching preschool. I was just beginning my journey as a boy mom and was privileged to have several rambunctious boys in my class. Each Friday the children would take…

A Worth That Doesn’t Spill Over

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, Ephesians 1:3-5 Our family lived in an RV for three years. We didn’t have a lot of the conveniences that we had while living in the house. My kids, who had to wash every dish by hand, desperately missed having a dishwasher.…

    Facing The World With Worth!

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! I John 3:1 Our identity doesn’t merely affect the way we view ourselves. It has an outpouring effect on our marriage, relationship with our kids, reaction to circumstances, and ability to fulfill the purpose we were created for. To put the definition of identity simply, it is literally who you think you are.  Do you know who you are? The truth is, most of us have a perception of ourselves that is far from who God says we are. We grew up allowing the world and our negative self-talk to mold our…

    The Day I Met Desperation

Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why are you restless and disturbed within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall again praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God Psalm 43:5 I asked God to move in our life So, he moved us across the country away from familiar. I asked God to move in our lives once again So, he moved us to a small border town away from family. We were alone and isolated from anything familiar Far away from any friends God, why did you move us here? You took us away from every form of earthly comfort…

    The Very Hungry Butterfly

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. Isaiah 43:18-19 My son’s favorite book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This starving caterpillar can never seem to eat enough! He munches and crunches his way through leaves, fruit, and candy. Of course, we know caterpillars don’t usually include lollipops in their diet but my son thought it was hilarious. As I was ending the book (spoiler alert), I turned the page to reveal a beautiful transformation…

Are Your Emotions Blocking His Blessings?

I sought the LORD, and he heard me. He delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4 The AAA of breaking free from emotional strongholds in the Christian life. Our family had a wonderful but exhausting day at Disneyland. We began our drive back home late at night. Just as all three boys fell asleep in the back seat we heard a loud thumping and the car began to bump up and down. We instantly knew we had a flat tire. In the dark, on the edge of the freeway, Marcus took out the spare and replaced the flat tire with our spare. Finally, we were back on the road…but…
